Should this have read "the student passed [out on] the second try ..." ?

Also, I was warming up yesterday before playing in church. I was
doing some octave jumps. When I got to the A's - A1, A2, A3, A4 - the
sound guy looked startled and started going over the board. He looked
over at me and said "That sounded like feedback." Not sure whether
this was a comment on my playing. As I thought about it, though,
feedback does sort of sound clarinet-like, doesn't it? I'm thinking,
for example, of a loud 120Hz feedback. When it goes far enough to
clip, it would make a square wave, a very rough approximation to a
clarinet's voice.
