The Eastman Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Donald Hunsberger will
also be performing in a variety of events at the Nat. MENC conference in
Kansas City. They aree all going to be held on Thursday, April 18. At
3:00-4:15 Dr. Hunsberger will be doing a clinic with the ensemble on Wind
Orchestration where he traces the orchestration for the wind band from Sousa
to the present. We have already done this clinic once before and it is
quite interesting and informative. We will then be performing in two
concerts that evening as a part f the conference. The first will be from
7:00-7:30 and the program will be Schuman's New England Tripytch and Bernard
Rands Ceremonial. The second concert is from 9:15 until 10:15 and will
include the Bach/Hunsberger Toccata and Fugue in d, Hoshina- An ancient
Festival, the Grainger Colonial Song, Iannaccone- Sea Drift (a new
award-winning composition) and Nigel Clarke's Samurai.

If anybody has a way to get in and see these performances, they should all
be well worth your time.

Ben Maas
bass clarinetist, EWE
