I stay at a safe distance from most "musical" topics on this list because
I do not have a music education. Yet I dare say that with reference to
this thread about performance leeway, Mozart, etc., aren't we really
talking about about a public vs. private thing? When someone like
Jonathan Cohler claims to record a Brahms sonata, of course an incredible
responsibility is there because the thing has Mr. Brahms' name on it.
*Privately*, of course it is absurd to condemn
experimentation/improvisation. Am I being too naive here?
