That's really interesting, because the RC bore, as I understand, is more
preferred in Europe for its brighter, rounder sound. I played on an RC
Prestige when I was looking at clarinets and I noticed it sounded much
clearer than many of the R-13's and it projected very well, too. I ended up
buying an R-13, though, because Tom Martin was selling one that he had
purchased, and I really loved the action and the tone quality on the R-13.
Fortunately, it happens to have many of the same characteristics as the RC
that I liked.

Buying an instrument is a really personal thing and no one should have to
defend their reasons for buying a particular model over another one. But to
address the question in the original post, "Why do so many Americans still
play on the R-13?" Well, I don't really know the answer, but since they're
so popular, you've got to figure they're doing something right!!!
