Hi Dan!

I have been playing with a shoelace ligature for over ten years! I
read about it in David Pino's book and gave it a try. I found that it
seemed to warm up my sound, especially in the lower register. It may be
just a slight difference in the way I FEEL the sound, however. Anyway,
there WAS a difference, I liked it and I stuck with it. I use a flat
shoelace wound around the reed about 7 times from bottom to top, with the
last turn tucked under itself. It has never become undone while playing.
