The translation is quite good BUT:

I am concerned that this person is implying that jazz clarinetists do
not have
"polished" sounds. Many "jazz" players of all instruments work
very hard to develop their sounds. Certain sounds are required to play
in certain styles. I had a teacher once who said that one ocassionally
has to "bastardize" one's sound to play a certain style.
There are many players that can play the classical repertoire with
"polished" sounds quite well and still turn around and play an exciting
dixieland style solo, complete with growls and rips.
