I had one in the early eighties and the sound was nice but I wasn't too
happy with the intonation. I am now playing the Buffet R-13 that was hand
picked by Mitchell Laurie, and I love it. As a second horn, I ordered a
Buffet Jazz Festival from Woodwind/Brasswind and I didn't like it. I found
quite a noticable difference in sound quality between it and the R-13. This
is not to say that the Pete Fountain and Jazz Festival clarinets are not
good, but the ones that I tried I wasn't pleased with. I know Pete loves
his horn, but then again, he's had the opportunity to go through a lot of
horns and pick the best ones!!!
