I am a horn player but have been growing to like the clarinet more and
more recently. Can someone recommend me a good CD of clarinet solos to
start out with? What I'm looking for is your ideas on the best solo and
the best performer as well as the best recording. If it helps, I tend
to favor the more warm tone as opposed to the sharp, piercing (are those
words descriptive enough?); kind of like the horn, sorry to offend
anyone out there but that's why I like your instrument in the first
place. I have started a little collection of the Sony LaserLight
"Instruments of Classical Music" collection with the Horn and Oboe and I
may end up getting the clarinet one but I also want some entire concerti
and not just a movement here and a movement there. A friend told me
that the Weber is good and I've also heard the Mozart and liked it. To
put the entire question as simply as possible, in one shot, what CD
would you buy?
