Dear Ingrid,

I do have a recording of Gino Cioffi along with Samuel Mayes, cello and Ralph
Berkowitz, piano performing The Brahms Trio in A minor. The Brahms Eb sonata
is on the record as well.

The program notes on the back of the record read as follows in regard to
Cioffi:

Gino Cioffi, Solo Clarinetist in Boston sice 1950, was born Naples,
Florida...just kidding, He was born in Italy.

He was a graduate of the Naples conservatory of music. He arrived in the
United States in 1937. He was a clarinet instructor at BU and NEC. He also
recorded with the Boston Woodwind Quintet.

Cioffi played Selmer clarinets during the recording at least...On the photo,
one can easily see the "Selmer" stamp on his clarinet. Selmer is also
endorsed. In the photo, it is also easy to see that Cioffi used a crystal
mouthpiece. I should note that it is clear on the photo that his mouthpiece
is attached to his clarinet just like I play mine. So I can play out of my
ear...just kidding. It appears from the photo on the back of the record as
though the mouthpiece is set up in the way as to have the reed attached on
the bottom.

A friend of mine in town loaned me the record and studied with Cioffi. If
you like I can give you my friend's name and phone number and you can talk to
him directly.

-Brad
