I know for sure that plastic clarinets were made in the early 60s. I started
on a wood Bundy in 1953, because my parents couldn't afford the flute I
really wanted to play. It seems that some of my more fortunate friends were
playing plastic clarinets around that time or soon after. The wood Bundy
served me well through my junior year of college.
Speaking of Penzel-Mueller, I have an old Penzel-Mueller pressure plate
ligature which is wearing out after only 30 years of use. Does anyone know
if they are still available anywhere?
