I do not know the policies of other schools but at my university, Stephen
F. Austin, we have quite a few non-music majors in our ensembles. We
even have quite a few in the top band, The wind ensemble. It is all by
audition except for our concert band which actually consists of more
non-majors than majors with the possible exception of doublers! Hope
