Klarinet Archive - Posting 000444.txt from 1996/03

I have added to my subdirectory the Bouffil trio
Opus 7, No. 2 in Type 1 MIDI form and the first clarinet
part in .MUS format (PC-Finale 3.2)

I can't remember if I mentioned that Type 1 MIDI files seem
to be compatible with both PC and Mac sequencing software
which reads Type 1 MIDI files. A program such as Master Tracks
Pro seems to do it without problems.

The README file follows for newcomers.

******
I have established a subdirectory, [anonymous.music], on the
VAX to share midi files with friends and colleagues of like
interest.

*******

The music files I have installed are a mixed bag. Some
are PC based, some are .etf (Enigma Transportable File).
There are two Mac based files that are not in the index
(see below) which no one seems to be able to read. I
continue to play around with them. You may not be
able to read some files after downloading because the
version of your program is earlier than that which was
used to write them. Sorry about that.

At your home prompt, type

ftp dhvx20.csudh.edu

Then, login as "anonymous"
Give your e-mail address as the password

Then type

cd music

At the ftp> prompt, type dir to look at the names of the
available files.

Also at the ftp> prompt, type binary, to make sure the file will
not be corrupted when it is sent to you.

If you do not know the name of the file you wish to download,
use the following procedure first to download the file
INDEX.TXT;1 (either in ASCII or BINARY format) in order to
find out the identities of the various files available.

Type get

At the Local filename: prompt, type the full name of the file
you wish to download.

At the Remote filename prompt, type anything you want as the
name of the file.
