I would assume that even "theoretically correct Dan" would acknowledge that
with the advent Finalle et. al., the reasonable likelihood of a given
composer knowing exactly what clarinet he or she wanted will deminish
markedly in the future. A recent symposium of contemporary composers
conducted here in the Raleigh area demonstrated a considerable lack of
knowledge the capabilities of several of the wind instruments.
