Hi all,

Many thanks for the leads on the Schmidt book-much appreciated! I
wondered if I could throw in a question relating to my newer practice of
working up the low clarinets. While I find the upper register to be
reasonable comfortable to play, my problem is that lower notes (ca.lowest
G and below) often seem to want to "pitch up" as if I'd opened the
register key. I've outfitted myself with a great Pyne mpc, and always
check carefully the position of the neck-pipe connection. I've been
trying to keep emb.looser at sides than for sop.instruments, and to
voice notes more down into the chest area than for higher clar's. I do
find some considerable work on keeping backs of reeds flat has been
necessary, and I wonder how much work experienced players find they have
to do on their reeds. Any ideas much looked forward to!
