Well, we have our own version of this scenario here in Los Angeles. Ernani
Bernardi, who recently retired from many years as a Los Angeles City
Councilman, started in the saxophone section of the Benny Goodman band,
playing alto and clarinet. I suppose in his time he was quite good. Now
that he is retired from political wars he has taken up the alto once again,
but the years do take their toll. He remains a political activist, or maybe
"gadfly" is a better description. I don't think he has raised any large sums
for any of our national policial leaders.
