I believe Burt Hara (along with others) was
invited to the final round. Incidently, no one from the first round was
passed (sorry if this is incorrect). He did have to audition and compete
against the other final-rounders. I heard this from students and
colleagues of John Bruce Yeh, who was one of the other finalists
(possibly runner-up--I don't remember).
