Dan mentions several good reed making books, and I'll mention again
another book that I've found very helpful. It is:

I use it with my university majors, as it reports as fact all the "old
female married persons tales" to which I subscribe (regarding reed
making, at least!!).

Seriously, it is a fine book, very comprehensive and readable.
