Yes, Yes, God Yes. If the C clarinet part is written in a sharp
key, it's much easier (once you get the hang of it) to play the C part on A
clarinet. What you do is add 3 #'s and read it as if it's in bass clef
(this also helps you in the bass clarinet department). Form example if the
C part is in the key of G (1#), reading it on A clarinet puts it in Bb
(2b's) as compaired to reading it on Bb clarinet - key of B (5 #'s!!!).
The cadenza in Tchiakovsky's Mozartianna suite is much easier this way.
Also the Moldau works better on A clarinet.
