My mother is a knowledgeable classical music listener. She took
piano lessons as a girl and resumed them for a while recently,
finally giving up because she found the technical challenges of
multiple musical lines too frustrating. (I also suspect that her
teacher wasn't very good, being the kind who focuses only on teaching
specific pieces of music instead of on building technique to allow
playing of any pieces.)

My mother has been thinking about trying a simpler instrument, and
she has picked--guess what--the clarinet! (The fact that I gave
her CDs for Christmas of Sabine Meyer playing the Mozart quintet
and Eddie Daniels playing the Brahms quintet probably has something
to do with this.) I did the perfunctory try-to-discourage-her
thing, warning her that her ears are so far beyond what her
playing capabilities will be that she's bound to get frustrated,
trying to steer her towards a less maddening instrument--but she
wants to try clarinet, and since I love clarinet the best I couldn't
try too hard to dissuade her.

What I'm looking for from the list is a recommendation of a teacher
near Strongsville, Ohio (suburb on the west side of Cleveland) who
has experience with adult beginners and who will make this a
happy undertaking for my mother. Any suggestions? (Comments
that will be helpful to her are also welcome; it's been a long
time since I was a clarinet beginner!)

Thanks,
Claudia
