Subject: Introduction

Dear Fellow Clarinetists,

I have just managed, through Cap Bromley, to add myselt to the list once
again after some time off. (Thanks Cap) I am the professor of Clarinet
at the University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho.

I couldn't help wondering why people were a bit uptight about the
discussion of the equipment they would recommend or use. I find the
subject fasinating. In the future discussions I hope to learn about what
people are using and I would like to encourage the rest of you to let us
know what your doing.

I have been using a Peter Eaton A 1.28 21.5 for years on top of a Buffet
Elite with Black Master #3 and when I eat my Weaties #3.5. If you are
interested in getting a Peter Eaton just Fax him at 011-44-1-372-452513.
The mouthpieces are about 85 pounds sterling. To quote him, "There are
now three types marked "L", "S", or "A", offering different tonal
characteristics. The "L" tends towards a broad, mellow quality, whilst
the "S" may be preferred by those seeking amore intense, focused sound.
The "A" offers the darkest sound of the three." Whilst is a word they use
in England (handy that). I am sure he would be interested in hearing
from some of you. My students use the mouthpiece and I don't twist their
arms. Everyone who plays them, loves them. (Most of my students play the
A). Make sure you let him know that you play a french bore or he may send
you a 1010. (The 1010 is the British Clarinet and the 1010 mouthpiece
that works on the 1010 does not work on a French bore. Eaton makes both
models.)

I would be interested if someone else has found romance with what they
are playing. So if it isn't too personal tell us all about it!!!!!
