To judge from a recent article by Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr in THE CLARINET, the
University of Michigan in East Lansing has an A Flat which they use in new
compositions for clarinet choir. One of the two she mentioned by name used
11 different clarinets A Flat, E Flat, D, C, 2 x B Flat, A, Basset Horn,
Alto, Bass, Contralto in E Flat and Contrabass in B Flat. There can't be
many pieces using both alto and basset horn either.
