I also love my Buffet R13 Prestige Bass clarinet. That low C is the most
beautiful tone on it or any clarinet I own. It needed no work whatsoever and
its intonation, as checked on a strobe tuner, is excellent. I bought it from
Woodwinds and Brasswinds of South Bend, IN. They actually sent me a Selmer
and a Buffet and said to send back the one that I didn't like after 2 weeks
testing, or both if necessary!
Sorry you had the problem, but the instrument is worth it. Incidentally
I bought a Buffet C clarinet from them on a big sale and had to machine 3 mm
off the barrel to bring it into tune, so you are not alone.
