Mark,

As a middle and high school student, I attended both Interlochen and Blue
Lake over many summers. I, too, found the cost to be prohibitive, but I
also remember that nearly every student recieved a scholarship of some
sorts (including myself). My advice to you is to go ahead and apply for
those places to see what you get.
If that doesn't sound like it will work out, there's a good article in
the new Instrumentalist magazine that lists summer music camps/festivals
all over the country. I think I even saw one listed at Central Michigan.
