I would like to play the devil's advocate for a moment so if I upset
somebody, excuse me in advance. I find all this talk about mouthpieces to
be rather interesting. I personally play a stock Vandoren B-40. I got this
by playing a whole pile of mouthpieces at a music store and comparing them
on pitch, response and sound. I don't care what facing it may have, I just
want to find something that will help me sound the way that I would like to
sound. I have also tried plenty of other mouthpieces made by the big makers
in the country including Pynes, Hawkins, and Greg Smiths. I have found that
although some of the other ones are fine mouthpieces, this is the one that
happens to work for me right now.

I have better things to do than to worry about having the perfect setup to
play on. Why not just spend your time getting used to one setup (as none
will ever be perfect) and save your money for better things? Just learn to
play the !@-----.
