I hope this message isn't going to appear twice; I'm having trouble getting
it posted and am trying both addresses. I'm interested in finding out
whatever I can about the background of Germaine Tailleferre's two works
for clarinet (I think there are just two), "Arabesque" and "Sonata for
Solo Clarinet." The most recent book on Tailleferre (1994) mentions
a couple of recordings of them (I recommend Virginia Soames') but
says nothing else about them: why they were written, for whom, etc. Any
info anyone can direct me to would be most welcome. They are both
lovely, very playable pieces. Does anyone ever program them?
