I don't want to get into trouble by mentioning any names, but the
thread on mouthpieces reads like great advice on why NOT to buy a
commercially made mouthpiece.

The primary reason people buy these commercially cranked out
mouthpieces is because thay can be purchased relatively cheaply and are
widely available. BUT, it is obvious by reading all the comments that
facing designations have almost no meaning in the context of many
commercially (vs. handmade or hand finished) mouthpieces. Comments like
I have a "Widget 2RF " and it plays just the same as my "Widget 3BRP"
are completely consistent with my experience and my data.

If you just have to play a "Widget"- disregard any facing information
and just try as many as you can until you find one that suits your
needs and PLAYS IN TUNE.
