Terri,

One thing that I am learning since joining this listserve that you should
tread lightly when talking about equipment. I agree with you about the horn
being less rugged 100% The keys are softer and greater care is needed by
the young student. I chose the Buffet student line because in my spec sheet
to music stores both stores can provide the Buffet line and I like the way
they play. One of my stores doesn't carry the Vito line which I like. To
me (my opinion) both horns are a good choice. Other people might choose Yamaha.
The Vito has far more rugged keywork. It also is a good playing student
model horn.

Since we have this subject going I have a few questions the general list.

1. I have noticed in the State of Michigan that many schools start students
on Signet clarinets or E-11's. Mostly Signets because the are cheaper.
Although as a clarinet player I can justify the added expense, I can't
justify the marching band situation in JH and especially HS. Any comments.
2. I know the Rossi clarinets are made of Rosewood. How does their sound
compare to African Blackwood. I don't know anyone that has a bizillion
dollars to buy one. :-)

Have a good week Terri!!
