I have been told that the Master Model was a high-end student horn, possibly
the precursor to the E-12(?). Mine is from the seventies (a friend of mine
just found another one and rescued its fate as a lamp, but I don't know if I
want to spring for an overhaul yet). It plays well, but it feels a little
stuffier than the R-13s I've played, and needs a little more air to really
resonate. Since I play a lot of tenor and bari sax, that hasn't been too
much of a problem. All in all, they're probably one of those better
mid-level instruments that could be a good buy.

The Selmer Series 10 I have just feels like it has bigger tone holes,
especially the low A & G (middle E & D), and the left thumb hole. I
sometimes have trouble covering them, and it could be because they're bigger,
or they're spaced differently from the Buffet, or ???.
