I'm trying to find out whatever I can about Germaine Tailleferre's two works
for clarinet (there are only two, as far as I know), Arabesque and Sonata
for Solo Clarinet. Robert Shapiro's 1994 "bio-bibliography" of Tailleferre
lists two recordings of the pieces (I recommend Virginia Soames' recording,
"Les Six" - Their Complete Clarinet Music), but says nothing else about them.
Who were they written for? Why? Can anybody help me with any sort of
background?
