Oh no, don't misunderstand me, Chris. I'm sure it really is a wonderful
tone when heard "live". I'm not in a position to speak with respect to
Shifrin's "live" sound, although his recordings really are a revelation in
beauty and musicianship. There's every possibility that I would think
his tone even *broader* in person. Either way, it doesn't matter too
much. Like some other players, he has a way of making remarkable music
so consistently that I can only imagine a live performance being doubly
incredible.
