Perhaps the answer to this debate is that, in the future, we offer
lengthy off-topic discussions as an optional personal mailing. I have not
read the entire posting (because I have not had time), but I have been
finding it interesting and DO want to finish. Maybe the original posting
could have given a summary of the major ideas (as they pertained to music -
we ARE allowed to discuss music on this list!) with an offer to send a copy
of the excerpt to anyone who was interested?
