I still play occasionally on my Kaspar-Chicago mouthpiece that I bought in
1963 for $16. I was told by a repairman who worked in the Chicago area at
that time that Kaspar intentionally made the rails assymetrical because he
had observed that most players held their clarinet off to one side a bit and
did not place the mouthpiece exactly in the middle of their embouchure.
