I like to spend nearly as much time on the A as the B-flat. I tend to
alternate: One day I'll do all of my warmups on the A, the next on the
B-flat. I find that if I don't, the A begins to feel awkward. I know when
I've reached the right balance when I will honestly occasionally forget which
instrument I'm playing on.

As well as scales and staccato, I need to do daily finger work to stay on top
of things. I use chromatic exercises, Opperman book one, Perier 331
exercises (well, maybe only about 12 of them...) among others. I start my
day with these for twenty to thirty minutes in front of a mirror, and then
move on to the scale form of the month intermixed with staccato studies.
