Well, I guess since we all have delete keys, I guess we can all start
talking about all kinds of non-clarinet related topics, such as President
Clinton, the New Hampshire Primaries, child abuse, or heavy metal. I mean,
heavy metal is the lowest form of music, along with rap. The thing that I
wonder about is this, would anyone say that they were so enlightened by a
long piece of pseudo-philosophical trash such as that rap essay, instead
this time being about heavy metal? Or are these people just saying this
because they feel like succumbing to the black race? All I can say is, I'm
sorry for wasting precious board time on idiocy such as this, but I feel
that it is needed so we can stick to real music. Let's stick to the list
topic, and leave rap off. I know that I would not go on a rap board and
start speaking about Mozart or Buddy DeFranco. But if you want to speak
about some great black clarinetists, such as George Lewis, Louis Cottrel,
Sidney Bechet, Jimmy Hamilton, Buster Bailey, Jimmy Noone, or Johnny Dodds,
and tie in their experience of being black and how it comes through in their
music, let's do that.
