Bob,
With dictionaries, one should always try to get the latest model,
if possible, if only because any biographical material will naturally be
more current. The Harvard is a wonderful publication. I'm assuming that
you're quoting the price for the soft-cover version and not for the
Harvard *Brief* Dictionary of music. There are others such as the Oxford
Dictionary of Music but Harvard is generally looked upon as the standard,
especially in the US, where we have more of an interest in musical
matters American, and not British.
