Where does one actually buy a Selmer instrument these days? The mail
order places advertise Buffets and LeBlancs but never Selmers.
Obviously, Selmer (still) places restrictions on the way their
instruments can be sold.

I had this problem 30 years ago when I bought my Selmer Alto Sax.

I wonder if these policies have helped or hurt Selmer. I would guess
that their share of the US clarinet market (especially the high end)
is smaller than it used to be. They were also the only game in town in
the Saxophone market (at least until the end of the Mark VI) and they
have a lot of competition now.
