There is no Dr. Soren. Soren is the first name of a graduate student at
a certain large state university in the Western United States. I won't
mention his last name in order to avoid causing him any further trouble.
He didn't send the message, but his account was broken into and pirated
by an individual who makes it a regular practice to do this sort of
thing. He thinks he is quite ingenious to be able to manipulate the
internet in this way. The best way to combat his assaults is to ignore
his messages. Just hit the delete key. In this way, we can reduce the
chance that he will continue to harrass us with future messages.

The managers of the computer systems at the university in question and at
the communications network where the messages originated are well aware
of the situation, and are trying to take steps to prevent such occurences
in the future. By the way, ours was not the only bulletin board list
which was bombarded last weekend - the offending messages went to many
thousands of internet users all over the world.
