Geez, you guys are fun.

You've gone full circle on metal clarinets as lamps and ash trays and
the general merits of metal vs plastic vs wood. As I recall, the
original message was for information about these instruments!?!?

I too have a metal clarinet. It is fun to play. (Any of you remember
what fun is?) I really don't care about the merits of it's value as a
lamp. I would like to know more about it's age and origin. It's a one
piece, silver plated Topper, made by the Lockie Music Exchange in Los
Angeles, S/N 98242. Or at least thats whats engraved on it.

I would love to hear from anybody knowing anything about this
particular brand of instrument or at least hear from someone who knows
where to begin researching for such information.

Regarding the pedigree of metal clarinets, I agree with Dan Lessons.
