I have a Cavalier with a serial nuber in the 60,000s which was me first
clarinet, bought used for $24 in about 1946. I believe this was a down
market line produced by Conn and yours is probably a Bb, like mine. It seems
unlikely that they would have made an A for this market. Mine (the Bb)
measures 22-7/8 inches, without the tuning barrel or mouthpiece.

Your other instrument might be a C, but the term C Melody is used for
Saxophone rather than clarinet. If you would let me know the length, I can
probably figure out what pitch it is.
