I have a Selmer (Paris) five piece metal (silver) Bb soprano clarinet
complete with a metal (silver) mouthpiece. This was in the catalog in the
mid-30's. Haynes of Boston also built a very special double-walled sterling
silver clarinet at about the same time. These are not student intruments--howe
ver, they were viewed as such and at least in the case of Selmer the instru-
ment was withdrawn. They have a fair amount of collector value--mine will
not become a lamp.
