Klarinet Archive - Posting 000480.txt from 1996/02

Greetings.
I just purchased a pair of metal clarinets, and have no real idea of
their age or real worth. One is in fairly good shape, and I am working
on it now to try to get it into playable shape. The second has several
keys missing, and generally looks like a student grade model.
The first one is a Cavalier, made in Elkhart, Ind. Serial number 51893,
silver plated, and I'm not sure if it is in A or Bb.
The second one is an Ideal, Elkhorn, Wis. Serial number 210637, appears
to be plain steel, and is smaller than the other one (possibly a C
melody?)
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Please reply directly,
I'm actually a brass player in disguise.
