Wow! *One day* away from my computer and I miss a great big interesting
discussion about Selmer and Buffet! I have a 10R new and a 3-year-old
R-13. I think the Selmer 10R (I have the resonance vent as well) is a
*first-rate* instrument. CAUTION: Subjective opinion to follow: but I am
able to "express myself" better on my untweeked, non-Prestige, out of the
box R-13. This may be entirely because I am "more used to it", but also
may have something to do with silver vs. nickel keys (the silver "drags"
as Jack Brymer says) and the fact that I've got a few fun barrels (no
Chadash, though) to use with the R-13. Anybody know if Selmer will sell
you RECITAL barrels. I've only got the one 64.5 that came with the
instrument. Mr. Monson? I am willing to feed and care for anything
calling itself a clarinet. In another economic bracket, I would have had
a shop of my own (and would never sell anything!). I have never played an
instrument I like as well as an R-13. How boring I am!
