I need some help with something. In Wind Symphony we're playing the
Symphonic Metamorpheses by Paul Hindemith. I absolutely love this piece
except for about 10 measures in the second movement. It's at the a
tempo after rehearsal letter P where the first clarinet has eighth note
triplets and the metronome marking is a half note equals 96. And the
1st clarinet is all on its own. Well, that's me and me. Hindemith
changed the articulation in the first few measures where it's hard to
feel any sort of beat until about 5 measures later. I'm having a real
hard time settling into that until I get to the 6th measure. After that
I'm in great shape. If you know what section I'm talking about do you
have any ideas? I'll take all that I can get. I'm starting to get
extremely frustrated. We're also playing Hoe-down by Copland. It's a
new edition that's exactly like the original orchestral score. If
anyone has any more ideas for improving a lazy tongue that would be
great also. If this helps, I play on a Larry Combs LC3 mouthpiece and
Vandoren V-12 reeds strength 3 and a half. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Wind Symphony has been pretty frustrating this semester.
Thanks, Sarah Woody. K379%nemomus@-----.edu
