I am too a Selmer player. I'm on a CL200 (no, not the best but it
was all that I could afford at the beginning of university) and I do
agree with you on the tone aspect. However, I have played my
teacher's Buffet Crampon and I found it generally easier to play, but
perhaps that has to do with the mouthpiece. I prefer the dark,
mellow tone that one gets from the Selmer over the brighter tone one
gets from the Buffets. Still, being in Thunder Bay doesn't give me a
chance to test many clarinets (actually, no one here carries them
except as band instruments) and to really make a decision, I would be
willing to test alot out. I remeber a few years back reading
something about a Selmer Concert Series?? ( I think that's right).
I remember that I wanted more than anything to try one out. But all
in all, I do prefer the sound of a Selmer; I have always been
partial to mellow tones. If you could give me some more info on
Selmers, I would be eternally grateful, since I am planning on buying
a new clarinet at the end of this year. And to everybody else, any
info on what they think is the best clarinet would be greatly
appreciated!

Happy reeds to you, my fellow Selmer - ist
