on my bottom row of teeth, i have one tooth that sticks out father than
the rest and it was giving me an awful time until last year when my
professor suggested i have my dentist come up with a way to solve my
dilemma. my dentist took an impression of my teeth and came up with a
standard plastic retainer that i am able to wear while playing. he
smoothed over the outer side facing my lower lip, leaving me with a flat,
comfortable place to rest my lip. i had no problem with the slight
adjustment to my embouchure, i don't need to mess with pieces of tape or
paper in my mouth before each performance, and i think the cost was
covered fully by my medical insurance. problem solved.
