Hi, I study at Arizona State University with Dr. Robert Spring. He
teaches an array of twentieth century techniques, and double tonguing is
one of them. Briefly this is what he has written in his hand-out. Turn
your metronome to 120. The syllables needed for double tonguing are
tee-kee. Say in rythm tee-kee-tekk in a 16th-8th note patter. Then say in
doing four sixteenth notes. Make sure you are relaxed. Try to get your
lower lip to just puff out naturally while saying the syllables. Then
added the mouthpiece and barrel. Do NOT form your embouchure. Say the
syllables, eventually form the embouchure and eventuallly blow saying
these syllables. NOTE the same two above patterns should be used. There
are more excersises, but these will get you on your way.
