Here is some more information on Reynaldo Hahn, this bit from one of the
stranger Web sites, an electronic version of the Pere Lachaise cemetary
in Paris. The info comes from a brief biography of Marcel Proust (which
accompanies a picture of Proust's grave on the web page:

"Proust's first lover was Reynaldo Hahn, a Jewish composer and singer from
Venezuela whom Proust met when he was 22 and continued to see for two
years. Hahn, handsome and exotic, captivated the attention of high society
which satisfied Proust's desire to be seen and known in those circles."
