Yes, it is difficult today for many children to participate in music. Buying
an instrument can be very expensive for many families. However, in some
districts there are school owned instruments that the kids are able to use
free of charge or for a noninal rental fee. There also may be someone in the
area that is selling a used instrument. I know that I will do just about
anything for a student that came to me and really wanted to play an
instrument but could not afford to buy one. I will find an instrument for
that child to play!
