Subj: A large apology!

Wow! Did I get myself in trouble with my comments about non -
majors! I didn't think about the fact that you people are teachers
and professors and professionals at real music schools.
Unfortunately, Lakehead University is not noted for its music. It's
a very small program (90 students tops) and not a very discriminating
one. The non - majors that are at my school are people who have
taken music in high school, are majoring in something else, and take
music for an elective. Most often they are not serious at all about
music; they take it only for an elective. They don't take lessons,
only the ensemble class (we have 2 ensemble classes - see how small
this place is?) and our teacher does pair non- and majors together.
Therefore, the non - majors are most often below the level of the
majors, because they are not serious (Yes, alot of them have told me
this, they figure music is an easy elective - hah! little do they
know). So I'm very sorry if my comments offended anyone; I was simply
taking only the situation at my school in hand.

I do hope this incident won't make people kick me off the list; I've
only been on it a week! But I do promise to think a little bit more
about what I'm going to say.

By the way, since this is my first venture into the world of the net,
I'll apologize now for any faux pas that I may make. Being a student
doesn't leave much time for the real world! I also want to say thank
you to the people who responded to my first test message to let me
know I was getting through. I'm glad for the chance to be on the net
with fellow clarinettists; its a wonderful opportunity to venture
into the real world!
