I spent the first five years of my college carrer as a non-major clarinet
student. I had the wonderful experience of being respected and considered by
the quality of my playing, not my major. My seating in the ensembles was
based entirely on my September audition, and I was respected by both the
faculty and majors.

I feel that the reason I have since become a musician is due to the respect
and guidence I received at that time.

Treat your non majors as you would your majors. (Especially don't demand any
LESS of them!)
